Breeding Bird Survey  -  Kimberley Nature Park

The Kimberley Nature Park Society has designed three bird survey routes that will allow us to monitor fluctuations in bird populations over time.  Experienced birders who can identify birds by their songs and call notes walk the routes in the early morning during the breeding season and spend 3 minutes at each of 58 locations listening for birds.   The survey was carried out in 2001 and again in 2008.  The results are available below along with a chart comparing species totals.  Record keeping has improved since 2001 so the 2008 survey has more detailed information.
